Rules

Basic

Be polite
Being polite is a basic courtesy and should be followed at all times. We're all here to have fun roleplaying, after all! If you're having an issue with someone being impolite or downright rude to you, intentionally or no, try to settle it between yourselves at first. If you can't seem to fix the problem, contact a mod and we'll see what we can do.

Godmodding
One of the golden rules of RP. Godmodding is not allowed in Revision Three. If your character is in a fight with someone, or otherwise participating in an activity that requires coordination with another player, allow the other player to make choices for their own character. If you have persistent issues with a player and can't resolve it among yourselves, let a mod know and we'll try to fix the problem.

4th Walling
Given the nature of the game, 4th walling is allowed in Revision Three. However, make sure to ask the individual player that they're alright with the 4th walling, as they may have a different policy than us. For characters that regularly break the 4th wall, you may want to make a permissions post and put it in the OOC community for people to opt out of.

IC =/= OOC
IC does not equal OOC. If a character is being rude or hates your character, this does not mean the player hates you. This also extends to the things your character does. For every action your character makes there will always be a reaction from other characters, whether positive or negative.

Posting Format
Revision Three has two communities you can post in: A network community, and a log community. The format for each is below.

Network/BBS [Action, Video, Audio, Text, BBS]

[Here is the narration for an action, video or audio post. The "camera" used for these posts is easily adjustable and is not held by the character, so it can be as close or far as you want it to be, and have weird angles and whatnot. You need not write down a character's thoughts, just what they do or what can be seen from the camera. It is possible to have accidental video/audio as characters can set shortcuts to the network's functions.]

This is where the words your character actually speaks is. This includes anything not intended for the camera, or mumbling. Pretty straight forward.

Generally text and BBS posts will use a different font, like this. This is not necessary, but it makes the distinction between text and spoken words much clearer for other players. You are welcome to write with improper grammar and use emoticons and the like in text. The code for this type of text is < font face="courier" >, minus the spaces. Don't forget to add a < / font> at the end of the text if there's more to follow.

Log

Who: Put a list of the characters involved in the log. If the log is "open" this means that anyone is free to join.
When: Straightforward. The general time and date of the log's occurrence. Logs can be backdated.
Where: The location of the log's occurrence. Logs are split into two categories: online and real life, since AU characters will be allowed to meet up outside of The World.
Rating: The ratings are G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17. Anything R and above should be friend-locked. If you're unsure of the meaning of these ratings, here is a definition of each rating.
Summary: A quick explanation of what is occurring in the log. One to two sentences is enough.

(Cut to the log!)

Logs are written in prose writing, like you were reading it out of a novel. Include the character's thoughts, feelings, actions, and any other relevant thing. Make sure to write it so that those responding to the log have something to latch onto when they reply. Logs must be written in third person, past tense.

Tagging System
Due to the various types of posts you can make in this game, we'll be implementing character tags and format tags. Character tags are simple. They are written as such: "character full name". There will be several format tags for your usage. They are: !action, !audio, !video, !text, !bbs for the network, and !online, !offline for the log community. Please tag your posts with one of these tags.

Warning System
We will give you three chances. For your first and second infraction, you will receive a warning, but on your third infraction, we will remove you from the game for a month. After the month has passed, you are free to reapply into the game, but if you get three strikes again you will be banned permanently from Revision Three. But let's hope it never reaches that level, yeah?

Game Specific

Character Limit
You will be allowed to have a total of 5 characters in this game. We are also restricting players to two characters per canon, provided that the characters are mostly unrelated to each other or would not interact under any circumstances.

If you idle out of the game with a character, you will not be allowed to app that character back in for a month. After that, you are free to try again. But if idling out becomes an issue with a player, we may enforce stricter rules for that player.

OCs, CRAU, Canon AU, Canon OCs, Multiples
OCs, CRAU, Canon AU, and Canon OCs are allowed in this game. Canon OCs are essentially characters with such minor roles there is very little about them that is known. Players are welcome to apply with these characters and fill in what isn't known. The only stipulation is that this character has to have made an actual appearance in the series and was not mentioned offhandedly by a character. There are exceptions of course. If you're not sure where your character fits, feel free to ask us.

OCs are a bit of a unique situation. You are allowed to apply with an OC that has their own story and world, but you are also allowed to make a setting-specific OC, that is an OC whose background is set in Revision Three. For these OCs, we will judge their backgrounds more closely, and it is possible that you may be asked to participate in important events in the future, should you choose this route. Setting specific OCs who are jamjarred will be considered Vagrant AIs.

Multiples of a character will not be allowed in Revision Three. We only allow one version of any character to exist in Revision Three at a time. This means you cannot have Cloud from FFXII and Cloud from Kingdom Hearts in the game at the same time. There are some exceptions to this rule, for instance the various incarnations of the Doctor from Doctor Who. If you're unsure if your character falls under the category of exceptions, ask a mod.

Characters You Cannot Apply For
We have a limitation on who you can apply for in regards to characters from .hack. You may not apply for Helba, Ichiro Sato, Aura, Zefie, Azure Kite, Azure Balmung, Azure Orca, Cubia, Harald Hoerwick, and Morganna Mode Gone. All other characters are allowed.

Activity Check
Activity Check is relatively simple. It will be done once a month, at the last week of said month. Players will be required to provide two proofs out of the list of possible proofs below.
✢ A post, network or log.
✢ A network thread with at least 15 comments from your character. You may use up to three threads to meet the number requirement.
✢ A log thread with at least 10 comments from your character. You may use up to two threads to meet the number requirement.
✢ An inbox thread with at least 15 comments from your character. You may use up to three threads to meet the number requirement.
If you do not have the required proofs, you may comment on the check with a strike. Players with a strike are required to meet double AC for the next month in order to stay in the game. If players do not comment on the activity check at all, they will be removed from the game. Players who idle out this way must wait a month before applying with the same character again. If idling becomes an issue with the player, we reserve the right to refuse future applications based on that knowledge.

Hiatus and Drops
In order for a player to drop or go on hiatus, they must comment to the Hiatus and Drops page. Mentioning that you are dropping or going on hiatus in the OOC comm does not count, and will not exempt you from Activity Check in the case of a hiatus 2 weeks or longer.

During a hiatus, jamjarred characters can be assumed to have glitched out of existence for that duration. AU characters are assumed to have just not logged onto The World, and didn't reply to any message to them for that duration.

As mentioned in the first paragraph, players are exempt from a hiatus if the hiatus is 2 weeks or longer (14+ days). Any shorter than that, even by one day, will not exempt you from Activity Check.
