NPCs

Important NPCs

These characters are important to the plot of Revision Three, and are mod run. They will appear infrequently, usually to during a game-wide plot event. Talking to them may or may not yield useful information about the state of The World, but it all depends on how you word it...

Helba
"I must say, this has been the most foolish thing I have seen since my first days in The World."

The infamous hacker and Queen of Net Slum. Helba is among the group of players known as the .hackers; those who solved the final mystery of The World. Ever since The World R:1 shut down and R:2 took its place, she has been rather sparse, but there are rumors she's now active in the American server... perhaps you may be lucky enough to see her one day.

Aura
"Y0? /u5n'; 4n#3r h3r. 5*3 w177 n0+ 3e >1n9 +0 y0/."

A mysterious AI that was central to the ordeals of the .hackers in The World R:1. Many players have seen her and heard rumors of her, but few know of her importance to modern society. She was reported to have disappeared around a year ago, but...

Other NPCs

These are mod run PCs who comment to the BBS to contribute what knowledge they have on the state of The World. Sometimes, they may even make requests of other players, which you are free to take up as a quest! Feel free to talk with them, they will reply to you.

n00bpwn3r
"4r3 y0u fukk1n k1dd1n m3??? 1m stuck w/ fukk1n 3dg3y sw0rdsm4n 4g41n!? wh0 th3 h3ll r3s3t my fukk1n pc!? 1'll fuk u up!!!"

An Adept Rogue whose classes are Edge Punisher, Flick Reaper and Blade Brandier. He often appears on the BBS jeering at people, specifically newbies, but will make fun of anyone he believes is stupid. Apparently he's a PK who targets newbies, but only because those are the only players he can PK. He's a bit angry about not being a Chaotic PK and believes he should be one, despite being nowhere close to the level and kill count of a Chaotic. He's quite immature and easily angered by insults thrown at him, and also types in an infuriatingly hard to read manner.

MarchHare
"Um... yesterday, I was Level 10... and now I'm Level 1 again.... That's not supposed to happen, is it...?"

A male Harvest Cleric who's new to The World. He often appears on the BBS asking various simple questions and requests. He seems to be very kind and a bit shy, but eager to learn. Him and MadHatter are siblings, it seems. MadHatter teases him often, but he still looks up to her and idolizes her very much.

MadHatter
"ah, there goes all my hard work :P well at least i dont have to level grind up my bro now!"

A female Lord Partizan. MadHatter's a veteran player, and was close to the level cap of Lv 150 before the reset. She's calm, cool and teasing and answers questions on the BBS randomly, when she's bored. Apparently, she is MarchHare's elder sister.

Take-Minakata
"I attempted to log onto the Japanese server today, but I was unable to. CC Corp had best fix this issue soon so I can play with the truly elite of The World!"

A veteran Tribal Grappler. He likes to boast about having experience in the Japanese server of The World, and often berates people for using the English names of the classes. He also insists that he's not a "weeaboo", as he puts it, and his love is for Japan's rich history and culture, not its pop culture.

Cepheus
"Ah, strength flees my body... will I ever lay my eyes upon my kingdom again?"

A non-binary player who prefers playing with a female PC. They enjoy hardcore role playing, and often posts on the board with a mysterious manner of speech. They play the role of a royal Shadow Warlock in search of the kingdom that disappeared from their very eyes.

Ichthyophobia
"argh! u used it again! that.. that... thing! that emote! u just want 2 see me cry don't you! >: ("

A Macabre Dancer who hates fish. She likes posting on the board to help answer questions from newbies and the like, but everytime, someone replies to her with a fish emoticon, causing her to get very angry and spiral the thread off topic.

NPCs and Creatures of The World

These are the actual NPCs of The World who perform important functions for the MMO, such as shopkeeping or other services. They are not mod controlled, and you are free to include them in your threads without asking us.

Vital Vistas
Vital Vistas are dolls made by humans. They are powered by steam, with varying degrees of consciousness and intelligence. These NPCs act as shopkeepers and quest characters. They have black, featureless faces, and are shorter and rounder than humans in stature. There are several Vital Vistas in The World, but the more important ones are Dr. Kubo, Dr. Kepel, Dr. Pao, Bikman, Marel, Dingo, and Ogma.

Dr. Kubo is the Vital Vista that researches Chim Chims and how they can be used to power steam machines. He will request players to help him research Chim Chims. He is located in Mac Anu.

Dr. Kepel is a steam technology expert, and creates many odd contraptions. His most notable one is Mecha Grunty, a Grunty shaped robot that often gets lost in fields. Players will be requested to bring Mecha Grunty home, and to do so they must provide Mecha Grunty with Chim Spheres, after which he will blast off and get lost in another field. This must be done several times before he returns home. Dr. Kepel can be found in Mac Anu.

Dr. Pao is a researcher of Lucky Animals. He will request players help him research these creatures by encountering them. Dr. Pao is located in Mac Anu.

Bikman is an artist who will request players obtain materials to make paint for him. He is located in Mac Anu.

Marel is a Vital Vista that enjoys mushroom hunting, but cannot fight, and will ask players to clear out her favourite places.

Dingo is the Vital Vista that manages bounties, and will hire and pay players to defeat PKers. He also gives players the Chaotic PK Bounty List. He has a hideout in the Mercenary District of Mac Anu.

Ogma is the Vital Vista that hands out the Job Extension quest for Adept Rogues. He travels a lot, so he will not always be available.

Chim Chims
Chim Chims are small, four-legged creatures found hidden in trees, giant mushrooms, and other places in the fields and dungeons. On the tops of their heads they carry an item called a Chim Sphere, the main power source for many machines found in The World. Power is measured in "Chims", a unit equal to the amount of power in a normal Chim Chim's sphere. Chasing and kicking them results in the spheres falling off of the Chim Chim and into the player's inventory. However this causes the unfortunate Chim Chim to whither away into nothingness.

There are several different types of Chim Chims besides the normal one, which only releases one Chim:

Rare Chim Chims: They are usually found mixed in with normal Chim Chims. They are colored yellow instead of purple, and wear a sash and medal. Their Chim Spheres are worth ten Chims apiece.

King Chim Chim: Somewhat rare. He usually appears by himself in places where normally a large group of Chim Chims would appear. King Chim Chim starts out the same size as any other Chim Chim, but as he is kicked, he swells and increases in size. Once he reaches a point where he becomes larger than the player, he starts jumping in an attempt to crush the player, which will cause the player to lose Chim Spheres. However, continued kicks to the King will eventually cause him to swell to such proportions that he bursts, dropping 50 Chims worth of Rare Chim Spheres and occasionally the Chim Crown, a rare item.

Chim Assassins: These ninja-like Chim Chims will attack parties in dungeons that are carrying a large amount of Chim Spheres. Like the King, they will jump and attempt to crush the player and force them to drop their spheres, causing 5 Chims worth of damage per hit. Defeating them gets the player no items or Chims. They appear in groups after a player has been in a dungeon for a length of time corresponding to how many Chim Spheres the player is carrying.

Assassin Dad: Leader of the Chim Assassins, the Assassin Dad is the size of a full-grown King Chim Chim, and dressed like a ninja warlord with an eyepatch. He fights much like a King Chim Chim, but will yield no Chim Spheres. He only appears in a specific quest.

Lucky Animals
Lucky Animals are creatures that wander fields, and grant blessings to a player and their party if kicked. They will run away from players if they see them, and are often extremely fast, making it difficult to kick them. There are also Unlucky Animals who will chase and curse players if not kicked.

A full list of the Lucky and Unlucky Animals and their effects is here.
