[ Canon AU || Nu 13 || Blazblue || No reserve ]

OFFLINE;
Age: NA
Canon: Blazblue: Continuum Shift
Location: NA
Original History: Here! The section under the heading Chronophantasma is spoilers for a game not released in the US yet, just in case someone doesn't want to be spoiled for it. But since I haven't played the game either, I'm not taking anything from it.
AU History: Rather than being a Murakumo Unit, in AU Nu will be made into a Vagrant AI. She stems from a line of AIs designed by CC Corp to protect specific locations within The World from bugs or any pesky hackers. This line of AIs was never meant to be anything special, they were just programmed to recognize and eliminate anything deemed a threat to where they were guarding. They were pretty handy for protecting fields that had events running on them as well, since they looked like normal high level PCs. It was security without the players knowing admins were worried about problems.
For some reason, however, the line of AIs started to display human behavior - namely emotions - after they had any prolonged interaction with normal players in the game. Of course the memories the AIs stored could be deleted to solve the problem, but it was more work for the programmers. After the same problem kept appearing in even the most recently created unit, Nu being the 13th one, the programmers decided it would just be easier to start over than have to repeatedly delete the AIs' memories. Especially since the AIs seemed to retain a few fragments of their memories despite going through what should have been a complete reset.
Most of the line of AIs were deleted, but when the glitch in The World occurred, a few were able to escape their fate, Nu included. Something in her didn't want to be deleted so when the chance appeared to flee she took it. Along with her level dropping during the glitch, some of her data was damaged, making it even easier to ignore the admins' orders to be deleted. She became rather uninterested in protecting the area she was originally assigned to and in destroying any data bugs she came across.
The data loss resulted in her main memories being the ones about how she was supposed to be deleted and the behavior of the admins and programmers towards the AIs. She has a few fragmented memories of meeting some PCs before as well, but nothing concrete. Just dreamlike, hazy pictures of faces. As such, castmates are free to go with having met Nu, or not! If it's a Ragna who wants to have met before, Nu will probably retain those memories better than any others. Because Ragna.
Appearance: NA
Personality: Initially, Nu comes across as very robotic and emotionless. Everything, from her way of speaking to her way of interacting with people is very mechanical. Not completely surprising since she is an AI. Most of the human interaction she had was with admins or programmers so it was always stiff and technical. There wasn't any reason to treat Nu like anything other than a computer, after all. It's not uncommon for her to keep a perfectly blank face and even tone regardless of anything that's going on around her. In Blazblue she was much the same in this aspect; she kills anything that her programming deems a threat to her own existence or the existence of the Cauldron, without displaying any emotional response. She’s just following what her programming dictates, there’s no reason for her to feel anything about it one way or another.
However, under the blank exterior is a fairly innocent, if slightly bitter and withdrawn personality. Nu doesn’t really know much about the world around her, or the humans in it, so she doesn’t really know how to act outside of her capacity as an AI. How does one interact with people in a normal way? It isn’t something she has much experience with. Not having any interaction with people and only existing for one purpose is a bit lonely. She has a desire to live freely and be around people, but it’s hard to accomplish when you really don’t know how to respond to something like a person smiling or laughing. Just small things like people being kind to her are a surprise.
The lingering memory of how she was treated by the people who created her makes her wary of people though. They didn’t care about her, or treat her kindly – she knows not all people are kind, especially if they find out she’s not a human. Nu is certainly curious about people but not totally sure if they are worth the risk. A lot of interaction all at once can be particularly overwhelming and she'll need to withdraw to somewhere for some peace and quiet. But she can grow to care about people or things it just takes time and putting up with her social awkwardness.
The one other persona Nu displays within Blazblue that should be mentioned is extremely different from the others above. When she is around the character Ragna the Bloodedge, literally her whole personality changes. She is programmed to act like a very cheerful, childish, and emotional around him since she is supposed to fuse with him to become the monster that will end the world. She will behave in just about any way to try to accomplish this – cute, aggressive, sexual, whatever will help accomplish that goal. Basically put she is a huge sadistic yandere for Ragna. While it is part of her programming for a specific goal, Ragna is the one thing she has memories of apart from being created and turned into a weapon, so she does have a non-programmed love of him. She idealizes him and would do anything for him.
For the AU however, where Nu doesn’t have any kind of programming to fuse with Ragna, most of that personality won’t be present. As she interacts with other people, I do plan for her to become more emotionally responsive to people. Depending on how people interact with her overall, she can turn into a less withdrawn, more cheerful and childish person, or a more angry, bitter person who wants to just destroy everything and enjoys hurting those who have hurt her first.
Other: As a note, part of Nu's personality is based on the time her soul was placed in the body of Lambda 11 in Continuum Shift. Since only Lambda's body was left and Nu's soul had to be placed in that body for her to be alive, I understood it as being Nu, but lacking her memories and programming from Calamity Trigger. Here's a link to Lambda's specific history if it is needed.
ONLINE;
Race: Human; Nu at least looks human in Blazblue, so sticking with that.
Class: Twin Blade; apart from the fact she has a bunch of swords in canon, the high speed, focus on combos to deal damage with lower defense fits her fighting style well too.
Appearance: Something like this.
Other: She has a pretty robotic voice in addition to the way she speaks. If anyone wants to hear it, here's a link.

[That looked pretty good, right? Oh, but all the other request threads had ended with a more specific phrase...]
Thank you.
Third Person: To anyone looking, it would be hard to tell from the blank look on Nu's face as she stood on the large bridge of Mac Anu that lead to the Chaos Gate that she was somewhat overwhelmed by how many people were around her. She'd met a few PCs before, certainly, but this was a completely different scale. There were so many people around and they were all talking with each other and even saying 'hello!' as they passed her... That must have been the appropriate greeting to use. She didn't think any of the programmers had ever said such a thing to her, but then they mostly talked about her, not to her.
She watched the PCs walking across the bridge into town, vaguely curious as to what they were interested in over there. The long braid on her back swayed when she started to follow the crowd into the main plaza, red eye scanning the new location. It was... pretty. The way the light looked, the textures on the buildings, the steam coming out of the vents. Nu was very aware of the fact that it was all fake - much like her own existence - but no one seemed to mind. Most of the faces she saw looked happy enough. They looked happy despite the fact that half the buildings here were just for show, despite the fact that the game had just glitched and all their levels had been reset. Was happiness that simple of an emotion?
Wandering down the steps she paused when she reached a counter, with a PC standing behind it. A guild shop. Even if she had no idea how to interact with the people of this game, her world, Nu had at least kept all her data on locations and functions. How to invite players to parties, how to use the chaos gate, things like that were easy to find on file. But when the shop keeper greeted her, she stared. She stepped back, shuffling in place, before stepping forward again. "He-llo," it sounded strange when she said it, in her robotic tone, but that was what everyone else had said. The PC looked a little startled when she spoke, though they didn't comment on it. Had she correctly greeted the person? It was hard to tell.
