Useful Tools

There are always many things to keep track of in The World, and subsequently, Revision Three. Below are some optional charts and tools you can use to make your experience in this game more fun and simple (or alternatively, more complex if that is what you prefer).

Permissions Chart
This chart is a great way to let other players know what is okay and not okay with you when interacting with your character! We strongly recommend that you make a permissions post in your character's journal, but it is not mandatory.

Status Chart

Having trouble keeping the status of your character straight in your mind? Alternatively, do you want to make sure everyone knows what's going on with your character? Then this chart is for you! You are welcome to adjust the chart as you like, as it is barebones and will require a little more work to make prettier.

Area Keyword Tool

Having trouble coming up with area keywords? Then this tool is perfect for you! You can browse a large selection of possible words for each keyword, and an actual field generator is in the works! To use this tool best, click the keyword box and use PgUp and PgDwn to scroll.

OC Applications

Original Characters may choose to be either stuck in The World (jamjar), or just be a regular player of The World (AU). Setting-specific OCs who choose to be stuck in The World would be considered a vagrant AI, but your character may or may not be aware of their own status.

Please title your comment with [ Fandom OC/Original OC/Setting-specific OC || Character Name || Series (fandom OC only) ].

Note: Vagrant AI characters may be asked to participate in a specific way in certain events in the future. Please make a note of that before applying.

PLAYER;
Name: Your name, of course.
Age: Revision Three is 14+, please make sure you're above this age.
Personal Journal: [personal profile] usernamehere
Contact Info: AIM, Plurk, Email, put in anything and as much as you want
Other Characters: If you are already playing characters in Revision Three, please name them here. If this is your first character, you can erase this.

CHARACTER;
Name: Western order please.
Age: If it isn't stated, make an educated guess.
Canon: Be as specific as you can.
Canon Point: This doesn't need to be extremely specific, like page and panel. Just mentioning what events happened right before/after that point is good enough.

History: A link or description of the character's history. For canon OCs, please be as detailed as you can, and note where you have supplied headcanon to fill in what's missing.
Appearance: You may link a picture of them, but write a few sentences noting their clothing style in The World.
Personality: We expect at least three paragraphs, or 300 words minimum.
CRAU: If you are planning to app this character after their experience in another game, please fill in this section and note what major experiences they had and how it changed them. If not, you may erase this section.

Race: Upon entering The World, your character will be converted into either a Human or one of the three beast clans: The Ya Tribe, the Lei Tribe or the Tu Tribe. A small description of the races are here. Please pick one of the four listed and provide a little reasoning: it can be as simple as "My character is human" but for non-intuitive picks (like changing a human to a beast clan member) you may want to provide a longer reason.
Class: Please pick one of classes listed on this page. For Adept Rogues, list the other classes you have chosen, beginning with your starting class. Please also provide a reason for the class you picked. The reason does not need to fit your character.
Abilities: What kind of abilities does your character have? Note that all abilities will start sealed off from the character, but can eventually be added to their skillset using the Original Skill System.
Items: You may list up to 5 starting items, but they are locked from the character until they reach level 15.

Other: Is there anything else you would like to note? Put it here.

SAMPLES;
First Person: This is the format used in the Network community. Actions are in brackets while spoken word or text is not. Minimum length is eight sentences.

You may link a post or thread from a musebox, a meme thread, or a previous games, but make sure they are long enough for the mods to accurately judge your writing.

Third Person: This is for the Log community, and should be written in third person past tense. Here, there is more room for introspection and description. Please make this a minimum of two paragraphs. You may link a sample from elsewhere, but only if your First Person sample was not linked, and vice versa.

Offline Name: The is the name your character uses when not in The World R:3. Western order please.
Age: If it isn't stated, make an educated guess.
Canon: Be as specific as you can.
Location: Where does your character live offline? If you wish to stick with the default (San Diego, California), then you may leave this section blank.

Original History: A link or description of the character's original history. It does not need to be extremely detailed unless you are applying for a canon OC. In this case, please be as detailed as you can, and note where you have supplied headcanon to fill in what's missing.
AU History: Please describe how you have modified this character's original history to fit the world of Revision Three. Include all relations the character has. If you're not sure what your character should know in regards to .hack, there is an answer for that in the FAQ.
Appearance: You may choose between letting your character keep their original appearance or give them a plainer appearance. In the former case, a picture of the character is sufficient, but in the latter case you should make a basic description of their appearance.
Personality: We expect at least three paragraphs, or 300 words minimum. If there are modifications to the character's personality as a result of being AU'd, make note of it here and explain it to the best of your ability.
Other: Is there anything else you would like to note? Put it here.

Class: Please pick one of classes listed on this page. For Adept Rogues, list the other classes you have chosen, beginning with your starting class. Please also provide a reason for the class you picked. The reason should be something your character would give if they were asked why they picked that class.
Appearance: This does not have to be very detailed. Make note of facial characteristics, and the general style of clothing. You may also provide pictures.
Other: Is there anything else you would like to note? Put it here.

AU vs Jamjar

As you may know from reading the FAQ, there are two categories of players in Revision Three: AUs and Jamjars. AU characters are those who have modified their histories to fit into the world of Revision Three, and are normal humans who play the popular MMO The World. Jamjars are characters who were forcibly taken from their own home into The World, and cannot log out.

Given the circumstances of these two categories of players, each category has unique capabilities and limits in The World, which are defined below. We don't expect players to memorize the list or follow it very strictly, but it should be a good guideline for your interactions with other players.

AUJamjar
✢ Characters can log out of The World.
✢ Characters can have multiple PCs.
✢ Characters may have a bad internet connection and lag or drop from The World completely.
✢ Characters' PCs do not need to look like them.
✢ PCs are limited by typical game restrictions such as invisible walls; they are unable to interact with anything the game does not allow them to.
✢ PCs have a bit of a stiffer expression on their face, and may make repetitive motions when idling or talking.
✢ PC death is a simple fainting; they will never suffer massive injuries appearance wise.
✢ Characters cannot log out of The World.
✢ Their real body is in The World; thus they are required to take care of bodily needs.
✢ Characters will look like themselves (sans a race change and clothing changes)
✢ Characters can fully interact with objects in The World and are not restricted by invisible walls or the like.
✢ Characters have full control over their body, so they will appear vibrant and full of energy compared to AU characters.
✢ Their death will appear very real, and injuries sustained will appear and stay on the body unless healed.
✢ Jamjars may be mistaken for Vagrant AIs by system administrators or other players.

Canon Updating

Want to canon update your character? It's simple! Just fill out the form at the bottom of this post and post it as a comment here. You only need to fill out three things: character, new canon point and any differences in their personality and whatever is relevant in their history from the old canon point.

In game, your character will glitch out of The World for a day to a week, and when they return they will have their new memories, but note that they did not return to their world during this period. It will just seem like they regained memories that they'd previously forgotten.

Note:If you are an AU character, you must first obtain permission from a mod in order to canon update your character. In addition, you must fill out an extra section in the form that details your reasoning for the canon update, including how it will come into effect ICly.

Level System

As with all MMORPGs, the levels of a character are indicative of the character's overall strength and experience. Revision Three uses a casual, flexible level system. First, values are attached to different types of threads and posts. These values will tell you how many levels a character gains for a thread or post that fits in that category. The list of values is below.

✢ Post [+1 Level; Can be a post of any kind, network or log. Threads in the post will not be considered for any more levels.]
✢ Event thread [+3 Levels (+2 for Adept Rogues); an event can only count once so posting any other thread from the same event will not count]
✢ Root Town thread [+0 Levels; a thread that takes place in a root town]
✢ Field thread [+1 Level; a thread that takes place in a field or dungeon]
✢ Quest thread [+2 Levels (+1 for Adept Rogues); a quest can only count once so posting any other thread from the same quest will not count]
✢ Activity Check [+1 Level; only if you pass AC. If you do not or were exempt due to hiatus you do not gain a level unless you post the required proofs]

Note: Adept Rogues, in addition to the limits listed above, will have 1 to 5 levels subtracted from their level gains during AC to reflect the slower EXP gain this class has.

To gain levels, you must submit threads for level consideration during Activity Check. Only the threads that qualify for the month's AC will be considered; that is, if you submit a thread from the previous month, it will not be considered for leveling. They must also meet the comment number requirement for AC. For players who are not so concerned with their character's level, you can leave your leveling to AC. But for those who prefer the fine details of MMORPGs, you can submit your threads for leveling consideration any time during the month in this post.

Use the form below and comment on this post to have your threads considered for leveling. Note: If you have already submitted a thread for leveling consideration you may not submit it again for more levels. You are allowed to use them for AC, but they won't count to your level.

Hiatus & Drops

Sometimes life hits you like a truck and you've got to deal with it. Sometimes the muse decides it's had enough and runs away. Maybe this game just doesn't click with you. Whatever your reason, you feel the need to take a break or leave the game entirely. We understand and don't fault you for this, but you have to let us know so we can exempt you from Activity Check or remove your character from the taken list.

If you plan on taking a hiatus or dropping, please fill out the relevant form below. Remember to title your comment with either Hiatus or Drop.

Hiatus

Hiatuses are valid for one month. If you need to extend it farther than that, please contact a mod to discuss the situation. You must be on hiatus for at least two weeks to be exempt from Activity Check.

NPCs

Important NPCs

These characters are important to the plot of Revision Three, and are mod run. They will appear infrequently, usually to during a game-wide plot event. Talking to them may or may not yield useful information about the state of The World, but it all depends on how you word it...

Helba
"I must say, this has been the most foolish thing I have seen since my first days in The World."

The infamous hacker and Queen of Net Slum. Helba is among the group of players known as the .hackers; those who solved the final mystery of The World. Ever since The World R:1 shut down and R:2 took its place, she has been rather sparse, but there are rumors she's now active in the American server... perhaps you may be lucky enough to see her one day.

Aura
"Y0? /u5n'; 4n#3r h3r. 5*3 w177 n0+ 3e >1n9 +0 y0/."

A mysterious AI that was central to the ordeals of the .hackers in The World R:1. Many players have seen her and heard rumors of her, but few know of her importance to modern society. She was reported to have disappeared around a year ago, but...

Other NPCs

These are mod run PCs who comment to the BBS to contribute what knowledge they have on the state of The World. Sometimes, they may even make requests of other players, which you are free to take up as a quest! Feel free to talk with them, they will reply to you.

n00bpwn3r
"4r3 y0u fukk1n k1dd1n m3??? 1m stuck w/ fukk1n 3dg3y sw0rdsm4n 4g41n!? wh0 th3 h3ll r3s3t my fukk1n pc!? 1'll fuk u up!!!"

An Adept Rogue whose classes are Edge Punisher, Flick Reaper and Blade Brandier. He often appears on the BBS jeering at people, specifically newbies, but will make fun of anyone he believes is stupid. Apparently he's a PK who targets newbies, but only because those are the only players he can PK. He's a bit angry about not being a Chaotic PK and believes he should be one, despite being nowhere close to the level and kill count of a Chaotic. He's quite immature and easily angered by insults thrown at him, and also types in an infuriatingly hard to read manner.

MarchHare
"Um... yesterday, I was Level 10... and now I'm Level 1 again.... That's not supposed to happen, is it...?"

A male Harvest Cleric who's new to The World. He often appears on the BBS asking various simple questions and requests. He seems to be very kind and a bit shy, but eager to learn. Him and MadHatter are siblings, it seems. MadHatter teases him often, but he still looks up to her and idolizes her very much.

MadHatter
"ah, there goes all my hard work :P well at least i dont have to level grind up my bro now!"

A female Lord Partizan. MadHatter's a veteran player, and was close to the level cap of Lv 150 before the reset. She's calm, cool and teasing and answers questions on the BBS randomly, when she's bored. Apparently, she is MarchHare's elder sister.

Take-Minakata
"I attempted to log onto the Japanese server today, but I was unable to. CC Corp had best fix this issue soon so I can play with the truly elite of The World!"

A veteran Tribal Grappler. He likes to boast about having experience in the Japanese server of The World, and often berates people for using the English names of the classes. He also insists that he's not a "weeaboo", as he puts it, and his love is for Japan's rich history and culture, not its pop culture.

Cepheus
"Ah, strength flees my body... will I ever lay my eyes upon my kingdom again?"

A non-binary player who prefers playing with a female PC. They enjoy hardcore role playing, and often posts on the board with a mysterious manner of speech. They play the role of a royal Shadow Warlock in search of the kingdom that disappeared from their very eyes.

Ichthyophobia
"argh! u used it again! that.. that... thing! that emote! u just want 2 see me cry don't you! >: ("

A Macabre Dancer who hates fish. She likes posting on the board to help answer questions from newbies and the like, but everytime, someone replies to her with a fish emoticon, causing her to get very angry and spiral the thread off topic.

NPCs and Creatures of The World

These are the actual NPCs of The World who perform important functions for the MMO, such as shopkeeping or other services. They are not mod controlled, and you are free to include them in your threads without asking us.

Vital Vistas
Vital Vistas are dolls made by humans. They are powered by steam, with varying degrees of consciousness and intelligence. These NPCs act as shopkeepers and quest characters. They have black, featureless faces, and are shorter and rounder than humans in stature. There are several Vital Vistas in The World, but the more important ones are Dr. Kubo, Dr. Kepel, Dr. Pao, Bikman, Marel, Dingo, and Ogma.

Dr. Kubo is the Vital Vista that researches Chim Chims and how they can be used to power steam machines. He will request players to help him research Chim Chims. He is located in Mac Anu.

Dr. Kepel is a steam technology expert, and creates many odd contraptions. His most notable one is Mecha Grunty, a Grunty shaped robot that often gets lost in fields. Players will be requested to bring Mecha Grunty home, and to do so they must provide Mecha Grunty with Chim Spheres, after which he will blast off and get lost in another field. This must be done several times before he returns home. Dr. Kepel can be found in Mac Anu.

Dr. Pao is a researcher of Lucky Animals. He will request players help him research these creatures by encountering them. Dr. Pao is located in Mac Anu.

Bikman is an artist who will request players obtain materials to make paint for him. He is located in Mac Anu.

Marel is a Vital Vista that enjoys mushroom hunting, but cannot fight, and will ask players to clear out her favourite places.

Dingo is the Vital Vista that manages bounties, and will hire and pay players to defeat PKers. He also gives players the Chaotic PK Bounty List. He has a hideout in the Mercenary District of Mac Anu.

Ogma is the Vital Vista that hands out the Job Extension quest for Adept Rogues. He travels a lot, so he will not always be available.

Chim Chims
Chim Chims are small, four-legged creatures found hidden in trees, giant mushrooms, and other places in the fields and dungeons. On the tops of their heads they carry an item called a Chim Sphere, the main power source for many machines found in The World. Power is measured in "Chims", a unit equal to the amount of power in a normal Chim Chim's sphere. Chasing and kicking them results in the spheres falling off of the Chim Chim and into the player's inventory. However this causes the unfortunate Chim Chim to whither away into nothingness.

There are several different types of Chim Chims besides the normal one, which only releases one Chim:

Rare Chim Chims: They are usually found mixed in with normal Chim Chims. They are colored yellow instead of purple, and wear a sash and medal. Their Chim Spheres are worth ten Chims apiece.

King Chim Chim: Somewhat rare. He usually appears by himself in places where normally a large group of Chim Chims would appear. King Chim Chim starts out the same size as any other Chim Chim, but as he is kicked, he swells and increases in size. Once he reaches a point where he becomes larger than the player, he starts jumping in an attempt to crush the player, which will cause the player to lose Chim Spheres. However, continued kicks to the King will eventually cause him to swell to such proportions that he bursts, dropping 50 Chims worth of Rare Chim Spheres and occasionally the Chim Crown, a rare item.

Chim Assassins: These ninja-like Chim Chims will attack parties in dungeons that are carrying a large amount of Chim Spheres. Like the King, they will jump and attempt to crush the player and force them to drop their spheres, causing 5 Chims worth of damage per hit. Defeating them gets the player no items or Chims. They appear in groups after a player has been in a dungeon for a length of time corresponding to how many Chim Spheres the player is carrying.

Assassin Dad: Leader of the Chim Assassins, the Assassin Dad is the size of a full-grown King Chim Chim, and dressed like a ninja warlord with an eyepatch. He fights much like a King Chim Chim, but will yield no Chim Spheres. He only appears in a specific quest.

Lucky Animals
Lucky Animals are creatures that wander fields, and grant blessings to a player and their party if kicked. They will run away from players if they see them, and are often extremely fast, making it difficult to kick them. There are also Unlucky Animals who will chase and curse players if not kicked.

A full list of the Lucky and Unlucky Animals and their effects is here.

Guilds

What's a guild? Guilds are groups of players who have similar interests, and are officially registered in The World. Guilds in The World have an @home, that is, a guild base, and a Guild Grunty who is essentially the Guildmaster's assistant. The @home can only be accessed by members of the guild or players who have the guild's key.

The guild's rank and @home capabilities are determined by the number of guildmembers in the guild. Increased rank allows for larger storage, greater alchemy capabilities, access to storage from warp points in fields, etc. Guilds can also run a shop in Mac Anu, and the shop's inventory limit is determined by the guild rank. Extremely large guilds are recognized by CC Corp and given a field to act as their @home.

To create a guild, the prospective Guildmaster must create an @home, which is easily accessed in Mac Anu. A grunty will then greet the player, and force them to go through the Guild Master Certification Event, where it will ask the prospective Guild Master to perform several tasks for it. Once those are complete, the guild is created.

To create a guild in Revision Three, just fill out the form below. You must have five starting members, including the Guild Master. You are welcome to play out any aspect of guild creation in a log, but it is not necessary.

If you would like to join a guild, you must obtain permission from the Guildmaster. Then you may use the form below to add your character to the guild member list.

If the Guild Master drops from Revision Three, guilds have two weeks to obtain a new guildmaster before they are dissolved. To name a new guildmaster, a guild member just needs to make a comment here nominating a new guildmaster. Mods will take the first nomination.

Locations

Within The World, there are several locations that have special importance in its lore, and thus, special circumstances. Here are a list of the currently accessible Root Towns and special Fields in Revision Three.

Root TownΔ ServerMac Anu, The Ancient City of Eternity
The first town of The World. This Root Town is located on the Delta Server, and is the town new players first have access to when they begin their journey.

Mac Anu has two districts: The Mercenary District and the Alchemy District. The Chaos Gate is located in a building to the North, and the Save Shop is located there. The Town Square is south of this building, and Guilds can set up shop in this area. The Quest Shop is also located here.

Other features of the town are the item and weapon shops, the @home, and the residences of NPCs Dr. Pao, Dr. Kepel, Dr. Kubo, Bikman, and Dingo. There is also a dock on the south side of town, where a grand ship sits. This ship grants access to Hy Brasil and is only used in official events.

Lost GroundsΔ Root TownHy Brasail, The Isle of Kings
An island far offshore of Mac Anu. This island is only used in official events such as the coronation of a new Emperor at the Arena in Lumina Cloth or a marriage.

The island can only be accessed using the ship docked at Mac Anu, as it has no area keywords.

Lost GroundsΔ Hidden Forbidden Holy GroundHulle Granz Cathedral
This sacred area is a Lost Ground. It consists only of a small island with a large cathedral in the center located in a lake of mist. Enemies do not appear in this area, so there is little to do here.

Inside the cathedral, there is a pedestal with nothing placed on it. Rumors from players say that there used to be a statue of a beautiful lady bound in chains sitting atop the pedestal in The World R:1.

It is said in The World's lore that humans trapped the goddess of light, Aurora, in this cathedral.

Lost GroundsΔ Hidden Forbidden RadiationArche Koeln Waterfall
This Lost Ground is where humans fought the "Shadow", and an apprentice magician called forth the gods.

Like Hulle Granz Cathedral, the area is small and monsters do not spawn in the area, making it an ideal location for a gathering of players in safety.

Lost GroundsΔ Hidden Forbidden Dead WoodDead World of Indieglut Lugh
The Dead World of Indieglut Lugh is the entrance to the underworld, where the Death God Cernunnos is sealed, according to lore.

This area is used in certain events, but is otherwise small and does not have monsters.

Lost GroundsΔ Hidden Forbidden BulwarkMorrigu Barrow Wall
Morrigu Barrow Wall is a great gate blocking passage to heaven. It is protected by the god of judgment, Folset. The One Sin, a ferocious, powerful dragon, was supposedly used here in an attempt to break the wall, or so the lore goes.

There is an inverse version of this Lost Ground called Dark Morrigu Barrow Wall, where The One Sin and God Eater, event monsters, appear. It is inaccessible from the Delta server.

Classes and Skills

As typical of an MMORPG, there are classes (known as jobs in The World) that all players choose when creating their character. Each class is specialized with unique abilities and skills, and their own benefits and downsides. Below is a list of classes in The World and descriptions of them.

Twin Blade
"Twin Blades have high agility and attack with two short swords. Their rapid attacks leave no opening for an opponent to counterattack."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
Twin Blades are rapid attackers, able to chain moves in rapid succession to prevent enemies from counterattacking. To maintain their agility, Twin Blades can only wear light armors, which provide an even amount of physical and magical defense. Their favoured weapon is the Dual Blade, which are short, light blades that allow for easy maneuvering. Of the physical attack classes, they rank as having the weakest attack power, but the highest agility.

Skills
Lv. 1 ;; Gale Blade (Target: Unit, Normal, 10 SP)
Lv. 15 ;; Sparrow Counter (Target: Unit, Aerial, 15 SP)
Lv. 25 ;; Sword Dance (Target: Area, Normal, 12 SP)
Lv. 35 ;; Tri. Strike (Target: Unit, Piercing, 18 SP)
Lv. 50 ;; Whirlwind (Target: Area, Normal, 21 SP)
Lv. 70 ;; Chaotic Strike (Target: Unit, Aerial, 27 SP)
Lv. 100 ;; Ghost Falcon (Target: Unit, Aerial, 52* SP)
*SP usage for this skill lowers as you continue to level until it reaches 27.

Blade Brandier
"Blade Brandiers fight with a sword similar to a katana. It is said that all warrior classes derive from this class. Although their abilities are average, they can adapt to a wide variety of situations."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
Blade Brandier is the typical sword-wielding class of MMORPGs. Their favoured weapons are one-handed blades, medium sized swords, or katanas. Blade Brandiers are slower than Twin Blades in agility and hit rate, but are stronger, though not as strong as the heavy hitting classes like Edge Punishers. This provides a balance between speed and power. Like Twin Blades, Blade Brandiers also wear light armors to allow them to be quick on their feet.

Skills
Lv. 1 ;; Sword Flash (Target: Unit, Normal, 10 SP)
Lv. 20 ;; Orge Sword (Target: Area, Normal, 12 SP)
Lv. 35 ;; Lateral Moon (Target: Unit, Aerial, 15 SP)
Lv. 55 ;; Razor's Edge (Target: Unit, Normal, 25 SP)
Lv. 75 ;; Disaster Sword (Target: Area, Normal, 30 SP)
Lv. 100 ;; Devil Sword (Target: Area, Normal, 52* SP)
*SP usage for this skill lowers as you continue to level until it reaches 27.

Edge Punisher
"Edge Punishers are a job class that prefers to wield giant swords. A blow from one of these weapons has enormous power. It can slice most enemies in half with a single strike."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
Edge Punishers are one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful class in The World. They use two-handed broadswords to deal massive damage against enemies. Edge Punishers also equip heavy armors, which sacrifice magical defense for physical defense, making the class good at both dishing and taking physical attacks. The biggest downside to Edge Punishers is their lack of speed and agility, which allows quicker classes like Twin Blades and Blade Brandiers to deal more hits in the same time frame.

Skills
Lv. 1 ;; Tiger Blitz (Target: Unit, Normal, 12 SP)
Lv. 15 ;; Twin Moons (Target: Unit, Aerial, 15 SP)
Lv. 25 ;; Armor Pierce (Target: Unit, Piercing, 18 SP)
Lv. 35 ;; Bone Crusher (Target: Area, Piercing, 20 SP)
Lv. 60 ;; Tiger Strike (Target: Area, Normal, 28 SP)
Lv. 75 ;; Shell Breaker (Target: Area, Piercing, 36 SP)
Lv. 100 ;; Armor Break (Target: Unit, Aerial, 62* SP)
*SP usage for this skill lowers as you continue to level until it reaches 33.

Tribal Grappler
"Tribal Grapplers use their own fists as weapons. They have high agility similar to Twin Blades and possess high HP. However, their low defense value makes it crucial to pay attention in battle."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
Tribal Grapplers are specialized close combat attackers. This class wears gauntlets and uses their own fists to attack enemies. Like Twin Blades, Tribal Grapplers have a high attack rate, letting them chain attacks easily. They also benefit from having high HP, allowing them to take a few hits while setting up an opportunity to chain their attacks. However, they have low defense as well, making it important for them to be alert during battle at all times to prevent unnecessary damage. Tribal Grapplers wear light armor, like Twin Blades.

Skills
Lv. 1 ;; Rapid Attack (Target: Unit, Normal, 12 SP)
Lv. 25 ;; King Hammer (Target: Unit, Piercing, 15 SP)
Lv. 55 ;; Tiger Bite (Target: Unit, Normal, 24 SP)
Lv. 75 ;; Palm Blast (Target: Unit, Piercing, 30 SP)
Lv. 100 ;; Shell Shock (Target: Unit, Piercing, 57* SP)
*SP usage for this skill lowers as you continue to level until it reaches 30.

Flick Reaper
"The Flick Reaper specializes in attacks meant to keep multiple enemies away. However, they are ineffective at long range."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
Flick Reapers are the mid-range, sweeping specialists of The World. Their attacks are area-wide, allowing them to push multiple enemies away from themselves and preventing enemies from attacking them. However, Flick Reapers do not have the ability to deal with long range attackers, so they can be overpowered by spells or long-range attacks. Flick Reapers favour axes and scythes, and wear heavy armor.

Skills
Lv. 1 ;; Wicked Strike (Target: Area, Normal, 15 SP)
Lv. 30 ;; Lotus Flower (Target: Area, Aerial, 18 SP)
Lv. 60 ;; Reaper's Touch (Target: Area, Normal, 32 SP)
Lv. 80 ;; Heavenly Wheel (Target: Area, Aerial, 40 SP)
Lv. 100 ;; Reaper's Dance (Target: Area, Aerial, 66* SP)
*SP usage for this skill lowers as you continue to level until it reaches 35.

Lord Partizan
"Lord Partizans wield a giant lance. No other class can match its piercing power. They have high defensive power compared to other classes, but are weaker against magic."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
Lord Partizans are the ideal tanks of The World. They boast high physical attack and defense, and use lances, which have a medium range and pierce enemy armor. They also wear heavy armor, which has high physical defense, further allowing them to bear the brunt of attacks for the party. Many of their attacks are geared towards fighting monsters, making them great party members for level grinding. However, Lord Partizans have very poor magical defense, so any good shot from a mage could do them in.

Skills
Lv. 1 ;; Air Raid (Target: Unit, Aerial, 15 SP)
Lv. 25 ;; Thorn Dance (Target: Unit, Piercing, 18 SP)
Lv. 55 ;; Piercing Heaven (Target: Unit, Aerial, 32 SP)
Lv. 75 ;; Scarlet Thrust (Target: Area, Piercing, 38 SP)
Lv. 100 ;; Heavenly Rage (Target: Area, Aerial, 57* SP)
*SP usage for this skill lowers as you continue to level until it reaches 30.

Steam Gunner
"They specialize in long-range attack and are weak against close encounters, but if necessary their guns can be used as powerful melee weapons which keep most enemies away."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
As their name implies, Steam Gunners use steam-powered rifles as their weapon of choice, making them the long range specialist of The World. Of all physical attacking classes, they have the greatest range and their many skills are focused on dealing damage from afar. They also have bayonets on their rifles, so they are not entirely defenseless if an enemy manages to engage in close combat with the Steam Gunner. However, it's best to have them attacking from afar, as they deal little damage in close combat. Steam Gunners wear light armor.

Skills
Lv. 1 ;; Thorn Shot (Target: Area, Normal, 15 SP)
Lv. 20 ;; Thunder Spark (Target: Unit, Piercing, 22 SP)
Lv. 35 ;; Plectra Bullet (Target: Area, Aerial, 18 SP)
Lv. 60 ;; Tempest Blast (Target: Area, Piercing, 40 SP)
Lv. 80 ;; Sphere Bullet (Target: Area, Aerial, 36 SP)
Lv. 100 ;; Dust Bullet (Target: Area, Aerial, 66* SP)
*SP usage for this skill lowers as you continue to level until it reaches 35.

Shadow Warlock
"Shadow Warlocks are experts in attack magic and are allied with the dark spirits. They always carry a book of spells known as a Grimoire to heighten their magic power. Although they can use some healing magic, their repertoire is limited and not very efficient."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
Shadow Warlock is the attacking mage class of The World. While they have a few healing spells in their repertoire, the main focus of a Shadow Warlock is to deal magical damage with their brutal elemental spells. Shadow Warlocks also have a small selection of status afflicting spells, which can be used to greatly hamper the enemy's attack. This class prefers Grimoires, which deal extremely little physical damage, and like all magical classes, Shadow Warlocks wear robes, which have high magical defense in return for poor physical defense.

Harvest Cleric
"Harvest Clerics are experts in healing magic and are allied with the light spirits. They wield a staff in battle in the name of Eir, the Goddess of Tranquility. They can use some attack magic after they reach a certain level, but most concentrate on healing and support magic."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
No MMORPG would be complete without a healer-type class, which the Harvest Cleric fills. They have an extremely large repertoire of healing magic and status curing magic, but can also boost their party's stats to increase their combat prowess. Similar Shadow Warlocks, Harvest Clerics have a few attack spells for supporting the party when healing is not needed. This magical class wears robes for increased magical defense, and wields staves, which are stronger than grimoires but not by much.

They have a wide range of spells can can deal status afflictions on enemies and heal allies of their ailments, as well as boost stats and lower them in enemies. To round off their selection of spells, Macabre Dancers have a fair amount of healing and attack spells, though they never attain the greatest of either. Adept Rogue
"Adept Rogues are eventually capable to equip various weapons and use various magic. However, each weapon must be learned separately and require items, but the training will eventually pay off making them highly adaptable in any situation."
— The World R:2 Official Site. —
Adept Rogues are a unique class. They do not have inherent abilities or techniques unique to the class. Instead, Adept Rogues are able to adopt multiple classes at the expense of slower growth (which is reflected in the leveling system of Revision Three). Because of that, this class is often considered the jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none, making it a somewhat unpopular class to play.

At character creation, Adept Rogues are allowed to choose between wearing either robes, light armor or heavy armor. They are also allotted 4 points, used to choose 2-3 classes, each of which have different point values to prevent unfair or overpowered combinations. Adept Rogues begin with only one class, their starting class (which will be considered the first class you list in your application), and gain the use of their other chosen classes through Job Extends, limited-time quests.

The point value of the other classes are below.

✢ Blade Brandier - 1 Point
✢ Edge Punisher - 1 Point
✢ Twin Blade - 1 Point
✢ Flick Reaper - 2 Points
✢ Lord Partizan - 2 Points
✢ Tribal Grappler - 2 Points
✢ Macabre Dancer - 3 Points
✢ Harvest Cleric - 3 Points
✢ Shadow Warlock - 3 Points
✢ Steam Gunner - 3 Points

Note: If you are unfamiliar with the .hack//G.U. trilogy, we recommend that you stay away from this particular class, as it comes with a fair amount of complication. If you'd like to go for it anyway, you are welcome to, and we are always happy to answer any questions you may have about this class.

Rules

Basic

Be polite
Being polite is a basic courtesy and should be followed at all times. We're all here to have fun roleplaying, after all! If you're having an issue with someone being impolite or downright rude to you, intentionally or no, try to settle it between yourselves at first. If you can't seem to fix the problem, contact a mod and we'll see what we can do.

Godmodding
One of the golden rules of RP. Godmodding is not allowed in Revision Three. If your character is in a fight with someone, or otherwise participating in an activity that requires coordination with another player, allow the other player to make choices for their own character. If you have persistent issues with a player and can't resolve it among yourselves, let a mod know and we'll try to fix the problem.

4th Walling
Given the nature of the game, 4th walling is allowed in Revision Three. However, make sure to ask the individual player that they're alright with the 4th walling, as they may have a different policy than us. For characters that regularly break the 4th wall, you may want to make a permissions post and put it in the OOC community for people to opt out of.

IC =/= OOC
IC does not equal OOC. If a character is being rude or hates your character, this does not mean the player hates you. This also extends to the things your character does. For every action your character makes there will always be a reaction from other characters, whether positive or negative.

Posting Format
Revision Three has two communities you can post in: A network community, and a log community. The format for each is below.

Network/BBS [Action, Video, Audio, Text, BBS]

[Here is the narration for an action, video or audio post. The "camera" used for these posts is easily adjustable and is not held by the character, so it can be as close or far as you want it to be, and have weird angles and whatnot. You need not write down a character's thoughts, just what they do or what can be seen from the camera. It is possible to have accidental video/audio as characters can set shortcuts to the network's functions.]

This is where the words your character actually speaks is. This includes anything not intended for the camera, or mumbling. Pretty straight forward.

Generally text and BBS posts will use a different font, like this. This is not necessary, but it makes the distinction between text and spoken words much clearer for other players. You are welcome to write with improper grammar and use emoticons and the like in text. The code for this type of text is < font face="courier" >, minus the spaces. Don't forget to add a < / font> at the end of the text if there's more to follow.

Log

Who: Put a list of the characters involved in the log. If the log is "open" this means that anyone is free to join.
When: Straightforward. The general time and date of the log's occurrence. Logs can be backdated.
Where: The location of the log's occurrence. Logs are split into two categories: online and real life, since AU characters will be allowed to meet up outside of The World.
Rating: The ratings are G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17. Anything R and above should be friend-locked. If you're unsure of the meaning of these ratings, here is a definition of each rating.
Summary: A quick explanation of what is occurring in the log. One to two sentences is enough.

(Cut to the log!)

Logs are written in prose writing, like you were reading it out of a novel. Include the character's thoughts, feelings, actions, and any other relevant thing. Make sure to write it so that those responding to the log have something to latch onto when they reply. Logs must be written in third person, past tense.

Tagging System
Due to the various types of posts you can make in this game, we'll be implementing character tags and format tags. Character tags are simple. They are written as such: "character full name". There will be several format tags for your usage. They are: !action, !audio, !video, !text, !bbs for the network, and !online, !offline for the log community. Please tag your posts with one of these tags.

Warning System
We will give you three chances. For your first and second infraction, you will receive a warning, but on your third infraction, we will remove you from the game for a month. After the month has passed, you are free to reapply into the game, but if you get three strikes again you will be banned permanently from Revision Three. But let's hope it never reaches that level, yeah?

Game Specific

Character Limit
You will be allowed to have a total of 5 characters in this game. We are also restricting players to two characters per canon, provided that the characters are mostly unrelated to each other or would not interact under any circumstances.

If you idle out of the game with a character, you will not be allowed to app that character back in for a month. After that, you are free to try again. But if idling out becomes an issue with a player, we may enforce stricter rules for that player.

OCs, CRAU, Canon AU, Canon OCs, Multiples
OCs, CRAU, Canon AU, and Canon OCs are allowed in this game. Canon OCs are essentially characters with such minor roles there is very little about them that is known. Players are welcome to apply with these characters and fill in what isn't known. The only stipulation is that this character has to have made an actual appearance in the series and was not mentioned offhandedly by a character. There are exceptions of course. If you're not sure where your character fits, feel free to ask us.

OCs are a bit of a unique situation. You are allowed to apply with an OC that has their own story and world, but you are also allowed to make a setting-specific OC, that is an OC whose background is set in Revision Three. For these OCs, we will judge their backgrounds more closely, and it is possible that you may be asked to participate in important events in the future, should you choose this route. Setting specific OCs who are jamjarred will be considered Vagrant AIs.

Multiples of a character will not be allowed in Revision Three. We only allow one version of any character to exist in Revision Three at a time. This means you cannot have Cloud from FFXII and Cloud from Kingdom Hearts in the game at the same time. There are some exceptions to this rule, for instance the various incarnations of the Doctor from Doctor Who. If you're unsure if your character falls under the category of exceptions, ask a mod.

Characters You Cannot Apply For
We have a limitation on who you can apply for in regards to characters from .hack. You may not apply for Helba, Ichiro Sato, Aura, Zefie, Azure Kite, Azure Balmung, Azure Orca, Cubia, Harald Hoerwick, and Morganna Mode Gone. All other characters are allowed.

Activity Check
Activity Check is relatively simple. It will be done once a month, at the last week of said month. Players will be required to provide two proofs out of the list of possible proofs below.
✢ A post, network or log.
✢ A network thread with at least 15 comments from your character. You may use up to three threads to meet the number requirement.
✢ A log thread with at least 10 comments from your character. You may use up to two threads to meet the number requirement.
✢ An inbox thread with at least 15 comments from your character. You may use up to three threads to meet the number requirement.
If you do not have the required proofs, you may comment on the check with a strike. Players with a strike are required to meet double AC for the next month in order to stay in the game. If players do not comment on the activity check at all, they will be removed from the game. Players who idle out this way must wait a month before applying with the same character again. If idling becomes an issue with the player, we reserve the right to refuse future applications based on that knowledge.

Hiatus and Drops
In order for a player to drop or go on hiatus, they must comment to the Hiatus and Drops page. Mentioning that you are dropping or going on hiatus in the OOC comm does not count, and will not exempt you from Activity Check in the case of a hiatus 2 weeks or longer.

During a hiatus, jamjarred characters can be assumed to have glitched out of existence for that duration. AU characters are assumed to have just not logged onto The World, and didn't reply to any message to them for that duration.

As mentioned in the first paragraph, players are exempt from a hiatus if the hiatus is 2 weeks or longer (14+ days). Any shorter than that, even by one day, will not exempt you from Activity Check.
